I was a long haired failed (very nearly) student apprentice at NW and then at Castle Donington and Ratcliffe. Took a job as operations engineer early after apprenticeship. After two years stepped down to be a junior engineer with P. and O. cruises (good move). Left nine years (another good move) later as a senior engineer on the Canberra and after a short time moved to WA.
After some other experimental career moves started offshore on FPSO´s (Floating Production and Storage Offtake Vessels) and am now Chief Engineer on Modec Venture 11 living in a beautiful spot near Brisbane.
Readers from Spondon may remember my first Austin Healey 3000. I do still drive a 3000, but slightly slower (only slightly). Do remember the name Brian Stevenson from Spondon and wonder what happened to my friend Jim Morton of ´Jimmy Moreton´s youth club´ fame-if you are reading this Jim.
Fondly remember Brian McDowell training Engineer.
