BOILER HOUSE.

Nos. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 Boilers have been in commission throughout the last month.

No. 1 Boiler. This boiler is now in commercial service after its annual overhaul and safety valves floated. Work completed since the June issue included the completion of checking pressure parts, inspection of fan hearings, motors and starters etc., inspection of the Lockheed system, overhaul of the P.I.V. gear box, the reversing of the main grate worm drive and gear, extensive brickwork repairs above the side Bailey walls, and finally a hydraulic test which proved satisfactory.

Nos. 5 and 7 Boilers. During off-load periods, additional inspection and access holes were installed in the boiler ash chutes.

Nos. 6 and 8 Boilers. A new spray pipe has been fitted to the atmospheric pipe and a test will be carried out shortly to ascertain whether a further saving can be achieved in the percentage make-up figure.

Boilers General. New access gantries are being fabricated in the vicinity of the radio-visor equipment.


TURBINE ROOM.

Nos. 1, 3 and 4 T/As. have been in commission throughout the month, receiving only routine maintenance.
