"OPEN DAY" |
||
|
Last Saturday, July 19th, we were pleased to offer our
families and friends hospitality for the first time since the
completion of the "1957 Extensions" which commenced during
1954. This was our second "At Home" day, the first being held on Saturday, 4th October, 1952 when approximately 250 people attended. Once again as on that day the weather was kind, and this combined with the excellent fare provided by our willing canteen staff and other voluntary helpers contributed to another success. Those of us who were "duty bound" were glad to offer any information and guidance that was asked us; but it was most encouraging to note the very knowledgeable resumes given by all members of the escorting staff. I always feel that the conducting of visitors around the station is a most useful refresher course. Our visitors all commented very enthusiastically on the clean and colourful appearance of the plant as a whole; the Turbine Room in particular, and of course the Gardens. The demonstration of the Mulsifyre Sprinkler on one of the Generator Transformers, also proved s big attraction - especially to the more youthful of our visitors. Summing up, I think we can rest assured that anything we do to further good relations with our consumers and "shareholders" will always pay dividends; cement all that has gone before, and pave the way for continued progress. |
